Arch

by The Goths

/

about

A song for our times, conceived way back. Global warming, military invasion, pandemic, all are referenced in ‘Arch’s prescient relevance to the present. It's thirty years since The Goths were last in the studio. In that time much has changed, but not the lyrics to their freshly recorded new release ‘Arch’. Written in the shadows of a dimly lit, early 90's Brisbane nightclub, ‘Arch’ is a prophetic ode with a melancholic, end-of-times vision more relevant today than ever before.

lyrics

I see an arch in front of me
I know not where it leads to
And there's a mountain valley deep
A silky river running through
I see a city in the trees
Its people know not what to do
They fear the fierce dragon's spleen
They fear the end is coming to them
From far away the thunder roars
As the ship sets out to sea
And there's the sound of bloody war
Oh who will set the people free
I see a land that has no law
I see a blood red river deep
And into darkness I must go
Into this arch in front of me
