about

Tree dates from late 1990 and has a bit of an air of mystery about it. Tree examines the effect certain places can have on you and the way some places carry a mood, or some slight apprehension of something beyond what one might otherwise sense. Though Tree is coming from this rather mysterious aspect, many places might seem to have this evocative nature to them. The lyrics are a stream of consciousness narrative, an observing character who watches owls, peers through windows and so on. This mental image evokes a feeling of solitude and perhaps a yearning for wherever it can be found. Driving rhythm and mesmerising riffs fill out Tree's otherworldly hollow theme.

lyrics

There’s a tree on the hill
There’s an owl in the tree

There is a grave I can see
There’s somebody else here with me

There’s a bat in the sky
and the wind it's just a sigh

There through the window I spy
The murder occurring nearby
